Caterpillars

20th Apr 2026

We welcomed four hungry caterpillars to our nursery! The children have suggested names and we decided on Poppy, Daisy, Crunch and Munch. We are learning to be patient as we wait for them to change into butterflies! They are eating a lot and getting bigger so we are observing their growth and watching for them to hang from the lid in a J shape. They have been making webs and we used the internet to find out why caterpillars do this. Making a web is their way of making a ‘nest’ which also helps them to hold onto walls and plants if they are outside.
