Orchard County Primary School, Armagh

Nursery Class

Welcome to our vibrant Nursery where our youngest learners are given the opportunity to be actively involved in their learning, explore the world around them, learn and practise skills, discover, create and interact, through a broad and rich play-based curriculum. We aim to provide a caring, stimulating, happy environment in which children's individal differences and needs can be recognised and met, so that all aspects of their growth and early development are promoted. Our Nursery team consists of our teacher, Mrs Kaestner, and assistant, Mrs McMahon.

In March and April we will be considering Animals, Spring time and Gardening. We will be looking at the different habitats where animals live and sorting them accordingly. Our primary focus will be on farm animals. We will be learning about jobs on a farm and the produce we obtain from farm animals. Learning will be further enriched through a visit to a Farm Shop and Streamvale Farm. Through pet shop and vet role play centres we hope that children will further learn about the needs of animals and the importance of being gentle with them. We will be encouraging children to be observant of changes in the weather and to look around for signs of Spring in the garden and countryside. It will also be time for us to work in our own school garden!
