Today we enjoyed a lovely winters day outdoors. We walked round our school, listening and looking out for birds and went on a feather treasure hunt. We compared the colours of the feathers we found and noted that the brown, black, white and cream ones are usually the colour of our garden birds to provide them with camouflage. Since it can be difficult for birds to obtain food in winter with icy conditions and a lots of minibeasts hibernating, we helped them out by making bird food and filling up their bird bath. It was the whole school ‘Feel Good Friday’ and we used a Kelly kettle to heat water to make hot chocolate. We decided to buy accessories for our existing fire pit instead of a tripod, so thank you to all those who contributed at our Nativity. We were amazed to see the water being poured into the Kelly kettle and not running out since we thought there was a large hole the whole way through. We discovered this was the chimney for the fire and we listened for the whistle when it was ready. This was used to make hot chocolate which we enjoyed in one of our outdoor dens.
