We had a shape and space theme to our Forest School day for Maths Week. On our walk around the school grounds we found a lot of shapes. We observed the amazing variety of shapes in leaves and learned how this helps us identify the tree they come from. Some of us brought items from our Autumn walks at home and we also found lots of acorns around our school oak tree. We sorted autumn items, made temporary art pictures, formed shapes and wove shapes with leaves, sticks and autumnal coloured ribbon. We also built scarecrows using 3D shapes! We explored moving our bodies on different ways and made shapes with our bodies when playing musical statues. We enjoyed croissants toasted on our campfire.
