Mrs McMillan’s Assembly on China
Mrs McMillan shared information with us about her recent study visit to China. She was visiting a range of schools with a group of principals from Northern Ireland. She shared lots of facts about the country, their culture and the differences between our school and theirs. We discovered that the children in China had very long days in school. We saw examples of how hundreds of students stand in perfect rows and do exercises to music. We are definitely going to try this during our Line Dancing on Farm Day!
We all had a go at saying hello, goodbye and thank you in Mandarin and had a quiz.
In China education is very competitive, our children were shocked to hear that even very young children get 2 or 3 hours of homework every night and go to school on Saturday and Sundays for additional practice!
Mrs McMillan also shared with everyone that teachers are shown a huge amount of respect in China.
We also celebrated all the recent success we have enjoyed at festivals and tournaments. Just like schools in China, we have very talented students!
