Our children welcomed their new friends from St Patrick's for our first day of STEM. After an introductory talk about how aircraft fly, we worked cooperatively to construct model helicopters. Balsa wood, plastic rotors, elastic strands, cardboard, glue and great teamwork led to exciting results. The highlight was definitely taking them outside to the MUGA for a test flight. We enjoyed playing together at lunchtime and getting better acquainted with our icebreaker activities. First day was a great success so we look forward to our future get togethers throughout the term.
