Parkanaur Forest Park

1st May 2026

We had a wonderful Woodland Wellbeing day in Parkanaur. It was very calming to walk through the woodland, listen to the river and the bird song and enjoy some tree climbing. We did lots of activities including looking at woodland animals, using stones to make up stories about the woods and animals that live there, noticing animal trails, spotting deer and tiptoeing past the Gruffalo cave! We observed the different colours in nature and found items of various colours to add to our nature palette. We also used natural materials to make temporary art. Our favourite activity was Hapa Zome where we hammered leaves and flowers to transfer the colour onto material. Through the woods we spotted different trees that were feeling a certain way. Bertie Beech was happy and we thought about things that make us happy such as playing with our friends, a sunny day, playing with toys, flowers and ice cream! Charlie Chestnut was sad and we thought of ways of cheering him up. We suggested giving him a hug or asking him if he wanted to play. Thelma Thuja was worried and we know that sometimes we can feel worried too. We each got a stick that represented our worry and threw it over the bridge, watching as it floated away in the water. Thank you so much to Speedwell Trust staff for a lovely wellbeing morning surrounded by beautiful nature.
